It Really Is A Wonderful Life, pt. 2

“No man is a failure who has friends."

This Christmas has been different than most we have had recently – in fact this year was a little different in general. Because we were not going out of town, we were determined to do some things that we had never done before, and when I heard that the Franklin Theater was showing two of my favorite Christmas movies – White Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life – I knew I had to take my children.

Hustle and Bustle

“Be still and know that I am God…” – Psalm 46:10

Christmas is a wonderful time of year – but it is also very hectic. On top of the normal busy schedule that everyone seems to keep these days, more is added in the months around this holiday. People pack event after event into an already overcrowded and bursting schedule. Christmas “requires” so much. As people rush from thing to thing, they become stressed, frazzled, and overwhelmed.

You are a Ring-bearer

"I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened" - Frodo Baggins

One of my favorite movies series is the Lord of the Rings. So much beauty, so much imagery, and so many messages. When all seems hopeless; when the problem looks to great; some choose to stand and fight for the good. No hero in this story is so great, and yet so small, as young Frodo Baggins.

I would have despaired...

"No matter how bad it is, that's not the end of the story...Sometimes we get mired in the moment we are in and forget there is more to come...we must trust God and wait." - Pastor John Yancey

"Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much"

"A joyful heart is a good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones." - Proverbs 17:22

Life! Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. Days that never seem to end. Problems that just seem to pile higher and higher. So many things that compete for our attention every minute. The older we get, the more serious things seem. As we get knocked around a little by life, the days, more often than not, can seem a little more discouraging and exhausting. Daily heartaches can suck our strength, and attacks that seem to come from all sides can discourage and beat us down.
